Australian Positive Teacher of the Year 2012

 

 

If we are to raise the priority of mental health and wellbeing in Australian schools and colleges, we need to recognize those who motivate and inspire our students.

 

 

Do you know a teacher who made an outstanding contribution to the mental health and wellbeing of students in their school in 2011?

 

We want to hear about them.

 

This award offers you an opportunity to nominate a teacher who deserves recognition as an inspirational leader in positive education. Simply fill in the online nomination form (below this message) with the details of your nominated teacher and a 200 word overview detailing why they deserve this award.

 

 

Each Australian Positive Teacher of the Year 2012 will be awarded with

 

1. A new Kindle Fire e-reader with full colour and a multi-touch display.

2. Registration to a Positive Schools 2012 Mental Health and Wellbeing conference (in WA, Vic or Qld) where they will be formally presented with their award.

3. An invitation to present a main stage talk at one of the Positive Schools 2013 Mental Health and Wellbeing conferences.  

4. Includes return airfare to conference and one nights accommodation at the designated conference hotel*

 

One award will be made at each of the three Positive Schools 2012 events (in WA, Qld and Vic).

 

You can nominate any teacher who has taught in an Australian school or college in 2011.  Self-nominations are also welcome.

 

Teachers can be nominated to win an award at anyone of the three 2012 events.  While it is expected that WA, Qld and Vic teachers will be nominated for respectively WA, Qld or Vic, teachers from other states and territories can be nominated for anyone of the three events.

 

*Each award recipient will receive a return airfare to the relevant conference from anywhere within Australia as deemed appropriate by the Positive Schools conference committee. They will also receive one night’s accommodation at the designated conference hotel. The award recipient may book additional nights accommodation themselves. The costs of land travel and any refreshments other than those offered at the event will not be covered by the award.

The final selection of award recipients will be made by members of the Positive Schools conference committee in addition to representatives from KidsMatter and MindMatters. The final selection will be final and not open to change or further discussion once made.
