Finding solutions with young people with alcohol and other drug issues

Alcohol and other drug use in young people is part of a range of behaviours which make up the transition into adulthood. In many cases it is a transient phenomena but in some cases it can be associated with serious mental health issues, social dysfunction and long-term consequences. There are effective interventions to assist young people which differ fundamentally from the approaches used with adults. This session provides an overview of the strategies that are used when encountering with young people with alcohol and other drug issues. It considers the critical roles played by many disciplines in engaging and working with young people to identify solutions which work for them.
