Indigenous cultures have always recognised the critical importance of creating a Rite of Passage (ROP) process to support the coming of age of their boys and girls. No matter where in the world these rites occur, they involve the same three basic phases.

Dr Arne Rubinstein has spent almost 30 years creating contemporary ROP programs for young people and their families in Australia and overseas. In this keynote address, he will cover the importance of recognising times of transition throughout children’s lives and creating ceremonies to celebrate them.

Arne shows us that not only are these processes easily adaptable to school settings, teachers are perfectly placed to lead the way in offering our children what they need to flourish at this critical time.
